From my point of view Christmas is the most amusing time of the year. It's that one period when we are both lonely and surrounded by people, when we are all about giving, yet we end up receiving. Heck, it's a paradox and we all know it.
Usually, as tradition has it, preparations for Christmas should begin several weeks before, in order to make sure that we have all we need to survive through such a time. We all know that as soon as Christmas approaches everybody goes crazy and the shopping rush begins, just as the traffic jams resurface for yet another year. So we all plan ahead, just to make sure of our success.
Naturally, there's an urge to leave stuff hanging for a bit. My guess is that it's all due to instinct that tricks us into believing that we won’t be able to get sidetracked by other things than those already on our list. We somehow trick ourselves into forgetting that we maybe end up surrounded by an angry mob set on purchasing their desired products. To give in to this urge is a good thing...if your intention is to do some bonding with the local market.
This all leads to Christmas becoming a very tiring affair before we are finally allowed to rest and enjoy the few days' worth of rest and delight that follow the arrival of the presents. Presents that, by coincidence, seem to be the universal pacifiers sending people into a sea of feelings that that usually seems to be made out of delight. Still, presents are not the only ingredient because we also need lights, cameras, photos, relatives, cheers from friends and people you only talk around three times a year - that's what makes Christmas...erm, Christmas.
All in all, I've forgotten what I originally wanted to say in this thing. There are a lot of nice things about Christmas, but somehow I have no doubt that everyone knows even a lil' bit about the magic of Christmas. There's magic everywhere, especially within us.
Merry Christmas everybody, merry Christmas one and all!
G'day & g'night! :)
